Food Stories

Do you have a tall tale about a meal you’ve eaten here or abroad? Do you have any photographs of unusual food you’ve munched on? If you do, we’d like to hear from you.

The University of Aberdeen Rowett Institute (external link), along with the University’s Special Collections and Museums and the Nutrition Society will be running an exhibition entitled 'Food Stories' at the King’s Museum in Aberdeen.  It will open for the British Science Festival (4-9 September 2012) and will run until the end of January 2013.

Food Stories will explore what we eat and why with objects from the University Museums telling fascinating stories from across the world about the social, cultural and environmental issues that shape our food choices.  Food Stories will be a treat for the senses, with a soundscape and scent jars adding to the visual feast.

As part of this exhibition the Rowett Institute are inviting you to submit your own food story to the exhibition:  Simply email sue.bird@abdn.ac.uk an image of a memorable meal, food or other edible experience and write up to 250 words on why this is your food story.

They will have around eight of these on display at any one time in the exhibition, and will include all images submitted by changing the display during the course of the exhibition.
