Holyrood Food Strategy 2010 Conference

Start date 25/05/2010 | End date 25/05/2010
Where is this happening? Edinburgh

Food Strategy - Delivering on Scotland's potential.

The food and drink industry in Scotland is worth £10 billion and provides 360,000 jobs.  As we move towards economic recovery how can we protect and grow it?  The Scottish Government has just launched 2010 as the year of Food and Drink, but is this enough when we face issues around sustainability and security?  How does this fit within obesity and alcohol strategy, and do we even have the skills to deliver all this?

Join us to discuss:

  • Targeting the Food and Drink industry for economic growth through tourism
  • Promoting education and ensuring skills development for the future of the industry
  • The importance of maintaining and advancing food security and sustainability
  • Efforts to overcome high profile challenges at home including:

 - Managing waste from food and drink production

 - Overcoming health inequalities

 - Supporting culture change

Speakers Include:

Paul McLaughlin - Chief Executive, Scotland Food & Drink

Bill Gray - National Officer, Community Food and Health

Jim Crooks - Principal of Elmwood College and Food and Drink Industry lead for Scotland's Colleges

David Whiteford - Chair, Reputation Working Group, Scotland Food and Drink  and Non Executive Director, SFQC
