The Future of Food: Can we strike the right balance?

2010 joint SFDF/REHIS/IFST symposium is set to tackle a mix of the following topics: food security, feeding a growing global population, the impact of climate change, securing a sustainable food industry and the potential role of GM.

A key event in Scotland’s food trade calendar and presents a unique opportunity to take part in stimulating discussion and debate with food industry colleagues, growers, leading scientists, consumer bodies and policy makers.

Presentations from an array of high profile speakers including:

  • Sir David Baulcombe, Chair of the Royal Society group that produced the hard-hitting report, ‘Reaping the Benefits: Science and the Sustainable Intensification of Global Agriculture’
  • Hugh Raven, Director of the Soil Association Scotland
  • Iain Ferguson, former Food & Drink Federation President
  • Professor Charles Milne, Director of FSA Scotland
  • James Withers, NFU Scotland’s Chief Executive

  • This is always a very informative and well organised event. The topic for the day is especially relevant for all stakeholders working with food. I'm upset that I shall not be able to able to attend this year and join in with the debate.
