Adventurer Inspires Kids to Eat Like a Champion

Champions in Schools is a life-skills programme delivered by the charity Winning Scotland Foundation. It places Scotland’s high performing athletes in the classroom to deliver a series of three inspirational workshops during the school year. A healthy, balanced diet is a key message conveyed by the athletes who also educate pupils on how to set and achieve goals, appreciate the value of hard work and adopt a positive, winning attitude.

Healthy support for small businesses - Further support to help cut calories, fat and salt in food

More and more small food businesses are making their products healthier through an innovative food reformulation programme, funded by the Scottish Government. The Scottish Food and Drink Federation (SFDF) and the Scottish Government are now working with 18 companies across Scotland to provide tailored recipe change advice, helping them to reduce calories and levels of fat and salt in their everyday products. To date, there has been an average of 20 per cent reduction in salt from a number of products including oatcakes, morning rolls and steak pies.
