This project was commissioned by Food Standards Agency Scotland to continue monitoring progress towards the Scottish Dietary Target to reduce salt intakes to 6g/day in the Scottish population. Fieldwork was ongoing in 2009.

The selenium content of soil and Scottish products (S14042)

This pilot project was commissioned by FSAS in response to an indication that Scottish soils may be particularly low in selenium and the potential effect of this on foods grown on these soils. The results provided evidence of low soil selenium content and the link between soil selenium and low selenium content of potatoes, broccoli, beef and milk.
