This pilot project was commissioned by FSAS in response to an indication that Scottish soils may be particularly low in selenium and the potential effect of this on foods grown on these soils. The results provided evidence of low soil selenium content and the link between soil selenium and low selenium content of potatoes, broccoli, beef and milk.
