Ambitions for Health

The Department of Health published this strategic framework in July 2008, in order to maximise the potential of social marketing and health-related behaviour.

Ambitions for Health is a framework for action on social marketing and public health.  It builds on the final report of Health Challenge England’s regional road show programme published in December 2007. 

This strategic framework sets out how the Department of Health plan to work together with key stakeholders in the public health community to embed social marketing principles into health improvement programmes. Its highlights some practical tools that they are developing in order to build social marketing competencies and capacity of practitioners in England. It sets out how they will demonstrate that all policy development and public health interventions in England are informed by understanding what motivates people..
