A series of workshops then followed:
Are we all working towards the same healthy balanced diet?
Recent FSA in Scotland research has indicated that the healthy balanced diet may be perceived differently by consumers, Government and health professionals. This workshop aims to open the discussion on how best we can work together to enable consumers to meet dietary goals.
A food solution to obesity and stakeholder engagement
Presentation by Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health University of Aberdeen and discussions around this work.
A future in food; a focus for interdisciplinary learning
Presentation by Moira Stalker (Scottish Food and Drink Federation) on their Schools Programme and a discussion on Curriculum for Excellence and linking across sectors.
What’s gardening got to do with health?
A presentation from Helen Pank (Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens) looking at community gardening and the benefits to the economy, the community, the environment and health.
Creating Connections
A presentation by Lyndsey McLellan on how the Edinburgh Food and Health Training Hub is working with organisations and networks across the city to build on, and establish links, supporting food and health work. This workshop will focus on a number of examples from within the Hub’s work.
Farm and producer gates to plates
An explanation and discussion on the various channels available to bring local Scottish fresh food to providers, and end customers.
