Guidance on healthy weight programmes for children

NHS Health Scotland published this guidance for health boards on how to help overweight and obese children in support for the HEAT3 target in April 2008.

The guidance supports the delivery of the Scottish Government’s HEAT Target (H3) for NHS Scotland to help tackle the growing problem of childhood obesity. It sets a target for health boards on the number of overweight and obese children aged between 5 and 15 who should complete government-approved healthy weight intervention programmes by 2011.

Boards are advised to check that the intervention programme they choose is compliant with this guidance, which was developed by NHS Health Scotland with the support of an expert reference group.
