Proposed new Early Years and Early Intervention legislation

The Minister for Children and Young People welcomes suggestions on where legislation could help promote the joined-up delivery of early years services and "Getting it Right for Every Child"

Angela Constance, Minister for Children and Young People, has released a statement with regard the Early Years Framework and Getting it Right for Every Child.

"With growing and conclusive evidence that what happens before birth and through the early years of a child's life dictates their longer-term life chances. Early intervention to prevent problems during this stage is both more effective for individuals, and more cost-effective for organisations."

The Scottish Government is preparing the Early Years Framework which will also work alongside Getting it Right for Every Child in order to construct a comprehensive response to provide better support to families and children across Scotland.

The Minister has set out some questions with relation to gathering this information and there is a dedicated email address to respond to.  The full Ministerial statement and the aforementioned questions can be found here.
