This WHO commissioned review on the long term impact of breastfeeding found that subjects who were breastfed had lower mean blood pressure, and lower total cholesterol, an a reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Breastfed subjects were also less likely to be overweight or obese and tended to perform better in intelligence tests.
