This study compared the meal patterns and cooking practices in Nottingham and Montpelier, France in order to investigate whether stereotypes of French and English food cultures were based on evidence. The importance of the social aspects of eating, cooking meals from basic ingredients, and having structured mealtimes with less between-meal snacking, remain more prominent within the French population.
