11 January 2008
The Minister for Public Health, Shona Robison, will make the opening address at the Food and Health Alliance conference taking place on 5 February 2008 at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.
The conference, 'Moving Forward on Food and Health' will focus on the priorities for the delivery of food and health objectives. There will be a discussion on how best to move these objectives forward. Participants of the event will also have the opportunity to prioritise the issues on food and health that need to be fed into a National Food Policy.
During the day, there will be a mixture of plenary sessions, interactive workshops and a marketplace for delegates to display their work and network with others.
Moving Forward on Food and Health is aimed at those who are involved in the food and health sector. It is especially relevant to those who are able to influence and improve the nation's diet.
Participants of the conference will have a strategic overview of key policies relating to food and health. They will have a chance to identify how these policies can be best implemented.
As well as learning about current food and health projects, there will also be a chance to input into the proposed National Food Policy consultation. The conference will also be a chance to review progress since last year and prioritise the future direction of FHA.
There will be a choice of lunch menus available from a variety of sectors including a community caterer, a school canteen, and a healthyliving awarded hospital canteen.
