Food & Health Alliance members have given strong support to all the main themes of the recent review of the Scottish Diet Action Plan (SDAP).
An online survey of members in November 2006 gave overwhelming backing to the first theme of integrating the various policy goals relating to healthy eating and the third of establishing closer links with the food industry to ensure the primacy of public health and sustainability. The other two themes also received widespread support.
In addition, many members highlighted education and public sector procurement as priority areas if the healthy eating message is to make headway.
The survey, which received a 28% response rate, was the result of a request from the Food and Health Council for feedback prior to its December meeting to discuss the SDAP review.
