Given there are many diverse ways in which we can encourage people to eat a healthy, balanced diet, there is no single department, agency or organisation that currently develops, promotes and delivers all aspects of food and health improvement work in Scotland.
Partnership working is increasingly being seen as vital in delivering appropriate and effective responses to a range of health problems and issues.
The main focus for partnerships for health is on building a closer collaboration between the NHS, local government, and the voluntary, private and higher education sectors.
Taking into account the broad and varied agencies involved (such as health, catering, retail, education and industry), food and health promotion provides an appropriate case where partnership collaboration offers great potential.
